We are currently under contract with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to determine first responder biodetection needs and assess currently available biodetection technologies used when responding to a potential biological incident involving a suspicious powder. We provide independent, non-biased, hands-on evaluations of current products and emerging biodetection technologies, from general test kits (e.g., protein tests) to agent-specific platforms (e.g., immunoassays). We are developing strategies and guidelines for the effective use of biodetection technologies in the field. The key goal of our efforts is to improve bioresponse capabilities both in the near- and far-term to advance overall effectiveness and safety.
